Message from the Exalted Ruler
Hello brothers and sisters. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and the fabulous weather we have been having.
I would like to thank the members for entrusting in me to represent our Lodge at the 146th Grand Lodge Convention in Orlando, Florida in July. Dee and I had a wonderful time meeting Elks from all over our Nation. Attending the Grand Lodge Convention was a great experience and I am glad I had the opportunity to go.
While in Orlando, my friend and Lodge Trustee Stuart Rishe, was installed as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler for the North Central District. It was an honor to be there for Stuart at this special time. Stuart has informed me that our Lodge will host the first District Deputy Clinic on Friday, August 27, 2010 starting at 7pm. I encourage all Officers and anyone else who is interested in attending to join me at this visit.
Thank you to Esteemed Leading Knight Doug Quinn who organized the Morristown 4th of July parade. Elroy the Elk was once again in attendance and coloring books were handed it out to all the kids to promote Drug Awareness and Safety.
The Seaway Festival parade was also a success with lots of candy and coloring books handed out. This year we had the honor of pulling the Drug Awareness trailer in the parade, with special guest driver, Past State President, Tim Kelly. Thanks Tim for taking time out of your day to join us.
I would like to thank all those members that took time to purchase candy for our Lodge to give out at both the Morristown 4th of July Parade and the Seaway Festival Parade. Thank you!!
The Lodge will be hosting a bottle drive on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 10am-1pm to raise money to purchase a WII Game for the Lodge. Please call the Lodge @ 393-5430 for pick up or drop your bottles off at the club during that time. You can also drop them off at Perry’s Redemption Center and make note that they are for the Elks Lodge.
An Initiation for new members will be held on August 3, 2010 with Indoctrination beginning at 5:00 pm and dinner at 6:00. Please come and join your Lodge Officers in welcoming the new members. The next Initiation will be held on November 2, 2010 which is also our District Deputy visit. If you have any friends or family that are thinking about joining, now is a great time to get their application in!
A Combination Roast will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Food will start being served at 4pm and will last until it is gone. The menu will consist of your choice of Turkey or Pork Loin, Salt Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Baked Beans, and dinner roll. Price will be $8.50. Head cook will be Ike Strader. This is available for pick up or delivery (inside the city) Anyone wishing to help with this event please contact Exalted Ruler Ted McDonald at 250-6329.
Fraternally Yours,
Ted McDonald
